Memorabilia and NFTs

Back in 2015, Don McLean auctioned his handwritten lyrics to 'American Pie'. The 16-page draft – which divulged the true meaning of the song – ended up selling for $1.2mm at a New York auction house.

Today, with the advent of NFTs, the landscape for how artists can engage with fans and sell access has changed significantly. Now, artists like Eminem are starting to use NFT platforms like the Nifty Marketplace to distribute unique memorabilia directly to superfans:

the collection features original instrumental beats produced by Slim Shady himself specifically for this release. The tracks will be made available only as part of the limited-edition and one-of-a-kind NFTs.

I guess people really do want to discuss Eminem.
